LASER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER HPDPSS (CA)
Development, design, and testing of lasers and laser components. The candidate will design lasers using laser engineering experience and proven creativity supported by solid theoretical knowledge and a strong practical sense. Needs to be able to communicate within a multi-disciplinary team and convey complex product requirements into reliable, manufacturable designs.
 
Responsibilities:
    * Contribute as a team member to design and development of diode pumped solid state laser, harmonic generation and beam shaping system
    * Contribute independently or as part of a team to defines problems, analyzes possible influences and solutions, design experiment and gather necessary data to support the troubleshooting process on existing and new laser products
    * Develop and complete necessary documentation (including procedures, engineering change orders, and technical specification drawings)
    * Createlaser design enhancements that will resolve yield issues and improve product reliability and manufacturing quality
    * The laser engineer will need to solve a wide range of optical problems applying the broad knowledge and experience acquired in a laser engineering environment
    * Build, test, qualify, and document designs to meet the needs of the laser system product. 
    * Interface with vendors and customers as necessary to achieve development goals and timelines
 
Qualifications:
    * Masters, or equivalent, in Optics, Physics, or Lasers related field with 2 years of relevant experience
    * Solid background knowledge of laser physics with diode-pumped solid state laser systems experience
    * Knowledge and experience in the application of harmonic generation physics to create ultraviolet beams
    * Knowledge of properties of optical materials and nonlinear crystals
    * Experience with techniques of beam parameter measurement and controls
    * Understanding of environmental testing requirements for laser products

LASER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER DPSS (CA)
The prospective candidate will support the engineering of a pulsed UV platform by working out engineering details, particularly those related to the seed oscillator, and harmonic segments, as well as other system integration issues. Perform component or system tests to identify issues, propose a redesign and communicate with the team. Solve manufacturability problems for the system and transfer to manufacturing (and support downstream). Take responsibility for building and debugging the seed oscillator and harmonic segments of the system, as well as participate in the design for the next generation of products. Skills in fiber optics, as well as data acquisition and automation is a plus.

Responsibilities:
    * Support the design and manufacturing of a high power DPSS laser system, including the assembly and shipment of systems and demonstration units.
    * Manage and maintain data acquisition stations.
    * Organize the configuration, test reports, customere reports and data folders for the systems that are build.
    * Participate in the design and project management of other generations of other DPSSL products.

Qualifications:
    * Master's in Physics or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience in a related field
    * Hands-on experience with solid state diode pumped laser design and handling
    * Knowledge and problem solving experience in high power lasers and harmonic generation a must
    * Project management skills preferred


ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (CA)

The successful candidate will work in the Product Development group closely interfacing with Marketing and Production supporting & improving ion laser power supplies and ancillary electronics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Work in Product Development group as engineer supporting released products.
· Create PCB & cable documentation, drawings, BOM and AVL for new and existing products.
· Sustain and update existing designs through locating alternate components and re-designing circuits.
· Perform failure as well as root cause analysis for switch-mode power supplies and laser systems by debugging and troubleshooting failures to the component level. Provide long-term solutions and recommendations to address failures.
· Provide engineering approval for NSI orders and serve as liaison between production and Customer Service on NSI related to electrical changes.
· Works closely with laser physicists to define system requirements, complete feasibility tasks, and support product through obsolescence.
· Provide smooth transition of new products from R&D into manufacturing. Support the manufacture and testing of air and water cooled laser products.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS Physics or Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years applicable experience.
· Familiarity with CE & UL agency certification process. Lasers & electro-optics a plus.
· Experience in power analog (switching and linear) required. Understanding of optical, thermal, and mechanical design a plus.
· Knowledge of switch-mode power supplies.
· Knowledge of circuit fundamentals. PSPICE modeling, programming experience(C++, Verilog, VHDL) a plus.


SOLAR: SR. CONTROLS EE (CA)

As a member of the solar R&D equipment group, design, select and develop an electrical and control system for a power distribution to be built (in-house or subcontracted) and used in the company’s proprietary layer transfer process.
Responsibilities:
    * Debug a wide range of electrical issues in the areas of Servo system design, interlocks, safety, wire harnesses/schematics to achieve a singe measurement and acquisition PCB design.
    * Work with current equipment engineering, process and software team to obtain final tool design and operating requirements that are to be used in the company’s proprietary layer transfer process.
    * Document specifications for use in R&D tool to full pilot production tool that can be sold and licensed to customers.
    * Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports. Recruit, lead, and guide the work of junior level staff.

Qualifications:
    * B.S. degree + in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
    * Background in electronics, mechanical, firmware/controllers, and overall design integration within the semiconductor or solar industry is required
    * Strong knowledge and background in material handling mechanisms including RF and high voltage are a plus.
    * Knowledge of bonding, and/or cleave technologies related to layer transfer is a plus.


SOLAR: SR. MECHANICAL ENGINEER, Solidworks (CA)
Responsibilities:
    * As a member of the solar R&D equipment group, perform mechanical and finite element analysis to define and design hardware system architectures for tools using Solidworks.
    * Execute and lead design review meetings with current equipment engineering, process and software team to obtain final tool design and operating requirements.
    * Document hardware design specifications for use in R&D tool to full pilot production tool that can be sold and licensed to customers.
    * Recruit, lead, and guide the work of junior level staff.

Qualifications:
    * B.S. degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
    * 8+ years in hardware mechanical design and development.
    * Strong knowledge and background in material handling mechanisms including vacuum, servo, robotics, and temperature control systems and high energy implanter experience.
    * Background in electronics, mechanical, firmware/controllers, and overall hardware to software design integration within the semiconductor or solar industry is required
    * Knowledge of bonding, and/or cleave technologies related to layer transfer is a plus.


SOLAR: SR. SOFTWARE ENGINEER (CA)
Responsibilities:
    * Design, select and develop user interface software architecture with the capability to support a software framework that integrates components and hardware into a fully operating system.
    * Responsible for coding, testing, and debugging an interface that meets the needs of internal/external customer fab software systems.
    * Work closely with equipment engineering and process teams to obtain tool design and operating requirements.
    * Document software specifications for use in R&D to full pilot production tools that can be sold and licensed to customers.
    * Recruit, lead, and guide the work of junior level staff

Qualifications:
    * B.S. degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Software) or equivalent experience.
    * Aptitude and ability to diagnose complex and unique software issues.  Strong background and experience using visual programming languages such as Labview or UNIX for data acquisition, instrument control, and industrial automation on Microsoft Office platform.
    * Experience preferred in software design and development for semiconductor equipment manufacturing with the following hardware components; high vacuum systems, high energy implants, and wafer handling systems.
    * Background in electronics, mechanical, firmware/controllers, and overall software to hardware integration within the semiconductor or solar industry is required.
    * Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications. 3D CAD design software, C++,and PLC control systems knowledge a plus.


Sales Applications Engineer, Semi Equipment (CA)
Establishes/provides technical applications support within the organization's semiconductor business model. Requires combined knowledge and skills in IC device design, material science, equipment and process engineering within the sales discipline.
 
Key Responsibilities:
· With management, establishes and provides technical applications support for customer account development including pre-sales technical qualification and presentations.
· Ability to gain an understanding of customer's projects/needs, evaluating Company's technology based on those projects/needs, and making product/process recommendations.
· Defines customer needs, customer product technical requirements and product road map, and how Company's layer transfer process and equipment can be applied to meet those needs.
· Recognizes and drives timely feedback on technical issues and opportunities back into management for incorporation in future strategies and initiatives.
· Regular face-to-face customer visits to build and maintain technical partnerships.
· Post-sales support includes technology transfer support after a contract closes.
· Responsibilities will also include competitive product evaluation, product spec review and definition.
· Interact with internal engineering/R&D groups to ensure that the deliverables meet customer requirements.

Skills/Qualifications:
· Candidate must have proven experience in successfully defining customer technical needs and demonstrating the ability to apply their technical knowledge to solve customer problems in meeting customer requirements
· Familiarity with IC design concepts, process technology and material science in the semiconductor, opto-electronics, and/or the MEMS industry.  
· Is skilled in making technical presentations and experienced in technical sales.
· Has demonstrated the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
· Familiarity with IC design and technology road maps within the semiconductor, opto-electronics, and/or MEMS industry.
· Strong technical background and knowledge of materials surface and thin film preparation a plus.
· B.S. degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or related fields), Physics, or Material Science.
· Excellent communication and problem solving skills required, as well as being self-motivated and pro-active with a desire to work with and influence internal team members and outside customers.
· Ability and willingness to travel with Business Development personnel to customer sites to gain an understanding of customer requirements.


LEAD TEST ENGINEER (Bio/robotics-CA)
Performs product testing assignments of new or enhanced products. Competent to draft test procedures, modification of programs for testing (hardware and software), analysis of test data. May supervise and direct other test engineer(s). Updates project/product bug lists in a timely manner. Documents common failure modes for incorporation into improved test protocols. Applies industry and Company standard engineering and design principles to assigned tasks.

Responsibilities:
· Following generally accepted guidelines and technical approaches, performs complex tasks in the testing of new and enhanced products. This includes life testing (developing MTBF support data) and robustness testing against design specifications.
· Drafts new testing protocols and specifications. Recommends support tools (Test hardware, bug tracking databases, automated test software, etc.)
· Provides testing for hardware, firmware, and software development projects as needed
· Documents assignments, test procedures and results in conformance with Company, ISO and FDA standards
· Researches new test engineering practices, procedures and tools to maintain proficiency and experience with emerging technologies

Qualifications:
· BS or higher in an engineering (EE, ME, CS, CE) or biotechnology related discipline (chemistry, biology, etc.) or math and 3-5 years of experience.
· Electro-mechanical aptitude with ability to assemble test set-ups, including electrical and fluid connections.
· Exposure to software test procedures and protocols strongly desired, along with some oursework in a programming language such as Visual Basic, C or C++.
· Coursework or experience in robotics and precision liquid handling a plus.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel.


Laser Product Engineer (CA)
We are looking for a Product Engineer to directly support Sustaining Manufacturing Engineering and who will work with a cross-functional team to resolve design related issues on released products in production.
Responsibilities:
*Laser design enhancements that will resolve yield issues and improve product reliability and manufacturing quality.
*Provide on-going support to production personnel to maintain product quality and production schedules
*Interface with vendors and customers as necessary to achieve production goals, and actively promoting high standards of workmanship as defined by documentation while maintaining safety and (where applicable) proper clean room procedures

Qualifications:
*5-8 years of Laser Product Design experience in lasers, diodes, electro-optics or similar technologies.
*Masters degree or higher is required unless significant experience is demonstrated.
*Experience should include documentation of processes and materials as well as design and development of fixturing/tooling for precision mechanical alignment.
*Special consideration will be given to applicants possessing experience working with lasers, optics, or electro-optical components, and having knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFS (Design for Serviceability).


Mechanical Design Engineer, Pro/E (CA)
Responsible for the mechanical design of lasers and laser components and for solving a wide range of thermo-mechanical issues.

Qualifications:
* BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering / Opto-Mechanical Systems
* 5+ years engineering experience and proven creativity supported by solid theoretical knowledge and a strong practical sense.
* Solid experience with Pro/Engineer and Intralink PDM
* ANSYS FEA experience or equivalent preferred
* Able to communicate within a multi-disciplinary team and convey complex product requirements into reliable, manufacturable mechanical designs.
